EMPIRE ONLINE — It would seem the reaction to Captain America’s Agent Peggy Carter getting her own short as part of Marvel’s One-Shot series (it appears on the ‘Iron Man 3’ Blu-ray) has been overwhelmingly positive. So positive in fact, that the company and Co-President Louis D’Esposito in particular, who has directed and overseen the shorts – thinks there will be scope for Hayley Atwell to return.
“What we’ve discussed is that there are going to be more Peggy Carter stories that we need to tell,” D’Esposito tells Collider. “She is wildly popular. Hayley loves it, and we love it. What we’ll do and how we’ll do it has not been determined yet, but those discussions have started. It’s in our consciousness that we need to tell another Peggy Carter story, somehow. Yet to be figured out yet, though.”
A couple of days ago I added HD screencaptures from ‘Agent Carter’ to the gallery. Hayley reprised her role as Peggy and she was absolutely amazing! We definitely need a Peggy Carter film as soon as possible (time to get on that Marvel!) 🙂 Remember that you can watch ‘Agent Carter’ on the special features from the ‘Iron Man 3’ blu ray so be sure to purchase your copy!
With promotion for The Pride in full swing, Hayley recently sat down for an interview with the BBC. She discussed the important themes of the play, reprising the role of Peggy Carter and working with Cate Blanchett and Kenneth Branagh on the upcoming Cinderella. Be sure to read on, it’s a really great interview.
English actress Hayley Atwell made her name on British television in series such as The Line of Beauty and Brideshead Revisited.
In 2007, she was cast in the Woody Allen film Cassandra’s Dream and has since gone on to appear in films including The Duchess, opposite Keira Knightley and the acclaimed TV series Any Human Heart and Pillars of the Earth.
In 2011, she was cast opposite Chris Evans in the Marvel movie Captain America: The First Avenger as Agent Peggy Carter. She is starring in the film’s sequel due out next year and her character has her own spin-off short film.
She is currently starring in a revival of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s play The Pride at the Trafalgar Studios in London, playing the dual roles of Sylvia, an unhappy 1950s housewife stuck in a marriage to a closeted gay man and her modern day counterpart who is the gregarious best friend of a gay couple.
If you haven’t already, be sure to take a look at this great new clip from Marvel One-Shot Agent Carter. The short film will be featured on the Blu-ray release of Iron Man 3 next month. I can’t wait to see the full thing!
Incredibly sorry for the lack of updates this past week; I’ve been very ill and in the hospital so please bear with me while I get the site up to date today! Our first update is to confirm that Hayley has been cast in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Cinderella’ where she spoke to BBC News about her role, saying:
My character? When Cinderella is five-years-old she loses her mum and she’s a good mum, that’s all I can really say, that it’s her biological mum.
I’m really looking forward to working with [Branagh], he knows how your mind works, so its wonderful. He’s very thorough, like a theatre director. It’s with Cate Blanchett as well so I’m in very good company – she’s quite an extraordinary artist and I’ve been huge fan of her work.
What a great role for Hayley! I’m so excited!
Trafalgar Transformed posted some great footage from ‘The Pride’ opening night where they interviewed Hayley and others from the cast and crew. You can watch the video below and I’ve added HD screencaptures to the gallery. Enjoy!
